The Golden Gloves program has led the way in promoting amateur boxing in the United States and has produced a majority of competitors for America’s boxing teams in the Pan-Am and Olympic Games. Since 1928, the Golden Gloves of America, Inc. has persisted and expanded its local efforts. The Texas Golden Gloves Athletic Association, one of the 30 franchises, began in 1936. San Antonio Golden Gloves, one of the 10 Texas Golden Gloves regional sub-franchise, furthers the Golden Gloves’ mission and advances the sport of boxing in the Alamo City and surrounding area. San Antonio Golden Gloves emphasizes giving boxers opportunities to achieve; opportunities both inside and out the ring.
